I have been producing games and events in our area for nearly 20 years now. Having a limited budget, it was very hard to put out multiple cameras at all the events we cover throughout the year with the amount of time it took to set-up the equipment. It could take 4 hours or more to set-up everything because our miniDV cameras had to be powered up, as well as have a video cord run to our truck. Communication was also a big problem because walkie-talkies had to be used during the broadcast by the director and the cameramen; this took up one of their hands to operate.
2 years ago, I heard about Camplex from another school. They loved the product, so by their recommendation I bought 4 Camplex Pro X1 devices. The Pro X1 worked like a dream. It lowered our set-up time in half and then some! One BNC cable carried the video, the power, tally and communications! What a time saver! We also have less cords and tripping hazards on the ground.
Last year I added another camera and purchased the Camplex Pro X2 device to run that camera. It works very similar to the Pro X1 and worked flawlessly. The units power up with no problem and are a big time saver! I produce about 100 events per year and Camplex allows us to get many other things done in the pre production!
